THE STAIRCASE

THE MODEL AT THE PRESENTATION, Ning, worked with her a few days before.

AUTUMN WINTER HAS ARRIVED….

NICE BALCONY

Amazing fact I learnt today….Swarovski’s first ever movie blockbuster collaboration. Dorothy’s shoes. WOW. Feature shown at the Sparkling Secrets exhibition in Shanghai until 31 July 2012, at The Peoples Hall.

Working with model Ning.

The shoot and the hotel residence took place at URBN Shanghai. China’s first ever carbon neutral hotel. Fascinating hotel corridors, all the wood is up-cycled from the 1940s & 50s French Concession housing. Beautiful slate too, grey never looked so good.

Sign of the times? Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Kenzo (orange paper dresses spotted at Jing’an) all using recycled paper objects to promote their products in their windows. Watch this space, eco luxury will be the next major thing in China.

I got excited walking between Jiatong university and Shanghai library. Came across this Flatiron bldg NY lookalike-y, intersecting at Wukang Lu and Huaihai. In love with this area, and the food at Jesse’s restaurant is home-cooked Shanghainese cuisine, very close-by. So re watching Empire of The Sun and retracing J.G Ballard footsteps after this trip.

NOW…..

AND THEN……

Seamstresses, tailors, shoe cobblers and the rest should be supported. Good for local businesses and I’m sure much more satisfying than bringing to the clone chain of shops in the air-con marble walled malls.
Tailor for fixing hemlines located opposite 145 Nan Chang Road, Lu Wan district (SH). There’s a cute coffee shop with antique furnishings LOUSHI.
Cobblers I found when walking from the The Bund Tower.

Consumed in Kowloon’s traditional Hong Kong style cafe, Mido. Mido has a long history, established since the 60s.
